One of my goals right now is to stop buying unnecessary amounts of beauty products. Not only do I have way too many products to go through, but I also won’t have much room to take them back home with me when summer break comes around. So far, I think I’ve been doing a pretty good job at keeping my grubby little hands from grabbing everything in Sephora. Also, I’ve been doing a pretty amazing job (if I say so myself) at finishing up products before moving on to new ones. I have a tendency to open bottle after bottle, impatient to try out new things, but I’ve been controlling myself much better these past few weeks!
I’ve been able to accumulate a couple empty bottles and decided that it would be fun to share what I’ve been using. It’ll be like a mini review and empty bottle haul (sounds attractive, eh?) in one.
I really liked this product when I was using it during the warmer months. I have problems with keeping my makeup on as it always tends to slide around in the slightest heat and this makeup setting spray helped keep my makeup shine-free and looking great throughout the whole day. It’s not a product that I find necessary during the colder, drier months, but once spring and summer roll around, I’ll be getting a full sized bottle of this!
During the holiday season, Sephora was giving out mini gifts with purchase and this was one of the small samples that I received during that time. It’s supposed to be a prep spray that you use on clean skin before moisturizer or makeup, but I felt like it didn’t do much at all. I know a lot of people love this product, so it might just be me, but I didn’t really see or feel a difference except for the slight cooling sensation it gave when I first sprayed it on. I used it because I received a sample for free, but I personally wouldn’t spend over thirty dollars on this.
(One quick tip: If you guys receive small, refillable bottles of sample products, then keep the bottles and you’ll always have something to decant your products into when you travel! Right now, I have some MAC Brush Cleanser in this spray bottle that I used when I traveled to California.)
While I didn’t hate this product, I didn’t really like it either. It was alright during the summer and beginning of fall when my skin was really oily as it helped control my skin’s oil levels and felt really refreshing. However, once it got a bit colder and my skin started to get a bit more dry, I felt like this toner was stripping away all the moisture from my face. It didn’t do anything for my skin and the price wasn’t cheap either. Thank god I’m done with this!
This trusty tube of foaming cleanser lasted me forever – I’ve had this for about half a year and I just finished it yesterday. I love the feeling of super clean skin and this cleanser not only smelled nice but also lathered up beautifully and left my skin feeling wonderful. In the morning, I just used this with my hands and at night, I used it with my Clarisonic. I have combination-oily skin, so this was perfect for me; however, if your skin is dry, I would recommend something a bit more milky and moisturizing. If you have oily skin and are looking for a refreshing foaming cleanser, I definitely recommend this product!
I’ve had my eyes on daily facial pads for a while and decided to use my Sephora beauty points to try out this small pack from First Aid Beauty. I’ve heard a lot of people saying good things about it and was really excited to try it out. My expectations were too high and I was really disappointed in this product. I also tried it out for only a week, so I might just not be getting the full results. So far, I felt like this did nothing at all for my skin. It didn’t break me out, but I saw absolutely no difference. Plus, I really disliked the sickeningly sweet scent and the sticky, icky feeling it left on my skin. I still want to try out facial pads, but next time, I’ll be getting a different brand.
While many people love to use mask sheets, I’m actually not a huge fan. I find it more time consuming and annoying to take the mask out of the packaging, open it up, and smooth it onto my face than to use a brush to put on a wash-off mask. All that said, I do enjoy trying sheet face masks because they’re cheaper and easier to buy in smaller quantities. I bought a pack of ten Arbutin Brightening Masks from My Beauty Diary when I was in Korea during the summer. I used most of them but found that I had one left in the bottom of my drawer and decided to finish it up. I really did enjoy using this mask – it left my skin feeling brighter, softer, and more hydrated. While this (and sheet masks in general) isn’t a product that I would rush out to buy, I would definitely like to try more.
I only have a few scents that I really like from Victoria’s Secret and Secret Charm is definitely my favorite out of all of them. Secret Charm smells like a bouquet of honeysuckle and jasmine that’s just the perfect amount of floral, fresh, and sweet. Not only did this smell amazing, but I absolutely loved how invigorating the scrub was. I dislike body scrubs that leave an oily film on my skin and prefer those that are grittier and leave my skin feeling squeaky clean. This body scrub was perfect – it got rid of all my flakey skin and foamed up really well too. Even if I don’t finish my other body scrub before summer break, I’m definitely going to repurchase this to bring back home.
I bought this product when CVS was having a sale a while back. I have very fine hair that tends to look a bit flat and so I’ve always been interesting in volumizing hair products. This shampoo smelled amazing and left my hair feeling light and airy as well. Since I’m not one to dedicate myself to one shampoo, I like trying out different products and using something new each time. While I’ll probably be trying out different things for a while, I wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase this shampoo.
When I first started to use this hair mask, I absolutely adored it. Then, I got used to the feeling of this product and started to loose appreciation for it. Now that I’m done with it and using another hair mask, I can really tell how great it was. It made my hair feel super silky and moisturized without weighing it down or making it look oily. Not only that, but it smelled a-maze-ing. It’s not a cheap product, but it lasted me a really long time and I loved the results it gave me. If I’m still in the states when I finish the hair mask that I’m currently using, I’ll definitely repurchase this.
I cannot express enough love for this product! It not only smells of freesia and crisp apples but also moisturizes without feeling heavy or sticky. During the winter, I usually layer this product with a body butter and during the warmer months, this provides the perfect amount of hydration. I have a tendency to skip on body lotion because I don’t like the feeling that it leaves on my skin, but I loved using this body essence because it was so light and fresh. As soon as I arrive in Korea, I’ll be stocking up on this.
I have a strange obsession with hand creams and can’t seem to get enough of them. I bought this mini Lollia hand cream a while back and finished it about a week ago. Compared to its tiny size, it actually lasted me quite a long time so I think I can justify the price. It smells beautiful and feels very soft as well. As soon as I’m done with the rest of my hand creams (which may take decades…), I’ll be rushing to buy this in the full size.
When I was in Korea, there was a lot of hype around this product. After hearing such great things, I was very disappointed in this product It didn’t glide on very well and had average staying power. The product itself also dried out very quickly and crumbled to bits only after a month or so. I’ve only had the chance to use this product a couple times but have to throw it away because it doesn’t work anymore. This product was a definite fail in my book.
This might sound weird, but I don’t feel like myself when I completely cover my dark circles… It’s not that my dark circles are very prominent, but I just feel awkward when the area below my eye is perfectly brightened and covered. Instead of using heavy concealers under my eye, I tend to just dab a bit of a highlighting concealer on this area. I bought the Magic Lumi Hilighter on a whim but absolutely fell in love. It doesn’t cake up under my eyes at all and just brightens and lifts the area. While it doesn’t provide maximum coverage, it’s the perfect amount for me. The only downside to this is that I go through it pretty quickly and it’s not that cheap for a drugstore product. Once I’m finished with a few of my other concealers, I might just go and get myself another one.
I’ve already talked about this product in my Summer Beauty Post and I also talk about this product endlessly in my everyday life. It provides great coverage without being caky or heavy at all. It blends in beautifully and has great lasting power. I know it looks like it’s full, but I promise you this is empty. It just seems to cling onto the sides of the bottle… I’ve already repurchased this product and will definitely stock up on it before I go to Korea (MAC is much cheaper in America than it is over there).
I hope this post was interesting :) I’d love to hear about what products you guys have finished up and are repurchasing!
